So glad this pleased you, Susannah. Taken from a rosebush in my very own backyard. It’s frankly a mess of plants grown together and one day I shall have to do something about it but for now, I’ll enjoy the blooms and share them with you.
I really don’t have cozy snapshots of me with friends enjoying life…lifestyle shots are what they’re called, so flowers on my table will have to do for now. Your roses too were great to see. I like how the pictures pop on their site.
That’s taken from a true story, when he and his band of brothers were POWS in a slaughter house during World War II. He just amazes me he could weave such a horrid tale into a story. You see why we worship at his eternal altar. And yes…so it goes.
Yes, I know! I love how the first chapter is really an explanation before the story officially begines. I bought the Complete Novels set and this is the third in a book of five stories, written between 1963 and 1973 – Reading it first on Marc’s suggestion 🙂
I love Kurt. I think I said I read Man Without a Country over the weekend. May be time to go make a pilgrimage to his townhouse on East 48th Street. You know the story, right? He was coming down the front steps with Flour, is beloved dog, when he got tangled in Flour’s leash and fell, hitting his head, never regaining consciousness. He was 84.
I am really enjoying him. I’ll have to pace myself; read something else between each Kurt book… or not 😉
Yes, you mentioned it in one of your posts. Such a bummer of a way to die but, he was 84 so it wasn’t way too premature.
I love how I’m commenting on yours as you are commenting on mine this morning 🙂
And you are right – beauty speaks for itself. And when I’m lucky, I manage to capture it 🙂
That is ONE PLUSH ROSE. It’s almost as if you caught it talking to its friends. All things considered, roses are seen as romantic for good reason. Its as if they have a song tucked into their petals, and with the bloom it releases those magnificent pipes.
Wow…I can almost pick one through the screen. Roses are my favorite flower, just one placed near my bed makes me truly happy.
Just beautiful Dale. May go to the corner florist now to get one when they open at 10. 🙂

Yep. Came with the house. Course, the rosebush is tangled up with two other plant/trees. Not complaining. yet.
