Pics as your opener causes me to think about the first settlers and pioneers. Those forging into a new land not knowing what lies ahead. What bravery! Wonderful pics and Happy Wednesday.
Thank you, Frank. After hiking the trail to get up to there (elevation 4040), I’m impressed they chose that peak and created that path to haul up the wood (originally) to build this lookout!
Happy Wednesday to you!
I think your show worthy. I think you could make money at it. Be professional. It may sound schmaltzy but you could start with weddings. You really have a special, sensitive eye.
You are lovely to say.
It’s funny. I did my cousin’s wedding back in jeez, I think it was the year before mine, so 2002, I think. I also did them for a gay couple we befriended on a cruise after the death of our son. Free of charge for both, of course.
Well, it’s time you work out fees, and start advertising in the local papers. Have a card made up perhaps from one of those weddings. You can add, Christenings, Barmitvahs, pardon the spelling. I mean it. Why not? You also enjoy it.
Oh, I dunno about that. I’ll just keep to photographing things I enjoy that don’t require someone else approving them! Doing them for free for family is one thing.
Sorry about the locked box, but yes, what a view from that fire tower. I’m not a big fan of heights past a certain point, but I think I could pull that one off in order to get a better view of that view. Beautiful photos, Dale.π²
Yeah. Bummer!
I tell you, as I get older, the belly does bigger flip-flops as I climb but climb as high as I could, I did. Once up, it’s fine – though I did wrap my arm around the post as I took pictures. My partner in crime decided one “floor” was enough!
Thank you, Bruce. Glad you enjoyed.
This tower looks as if it has been militarized compared to some I’ve seen, even though it wasn’t fortified in the least. It just has that feel about it, I think. Some towers are beyond rustic- and they scream “Stay Off!” as a result.
But you got the proof in this pudding with that amazing view!
Yes, it would. And way more photogenic! And hah! Maybe not.
And it’s funny. Was talking about this with a friend recently. Why the urge to jump happens as we get older… The fear increases (lemme tell you my stomach was doing flip flops as I climbed) and the urge to jump is strong.
It is. My aunt is petrified of heights. When she used to go skiing, she’d close her eyes all the way up because she felt compelled to throw herself off!
The ski lifts never really gave me the sense of height that seemed fatal. Break a leg? Probably. But throwing myself off a ski lift wasn’t going to be a done deal so I guess the pull wasn’t there for me LOL.
Ah, beautiful Dale! Especially the opening photo! πCNL!

Dear Dale,
Always such lovely photos. (And I nearly forgot about them today…blame it on Benadryl fog π ) Thanks for sharing the view.

Forgot? Now, now… I wouldn’t hold it against you. Not for long anyway π Plus, you’re all doped up so, I can’t even a little bit.

B,
You know, I would have loved to see its original form in wood. Surely had much more character.
However… glad you enjoyed the view – on the photos if not “live” π

It would have been interesting. And completely photo-worthy . . and I wouldn’t have made it even to the first story!
Ha! I woulda jumped. I don’t know why I have that impulse. Musta been a kamikaze pilot in a past life or something.

And that’s coz you didn’t take one in the Rockies that have NO BAR in front of you to hold you in and are high up enough to more than break a leg…

It is utter nonsense. And, from what I’ve heard, no longer a thing. Somehow they realised it was necessary to protect the skiers… Crazy thing, I know.

It costs money to provide safety and I guess they waited until there were enough close calls or worse. Such is the way of business.
